Brodick Castle Victorian Arcade

11 April 2019

This Easter, Paragon Creative brings an exciting new interactive attraction to a much-loved island castle. The Victorian Arcade at Brodick Castle is part of a fresh approach by the National Trust for Scotland to the interpretation and presentation of this historic property. Reopening after nearly three years of restoration, the new Brodick Castle experience focuses on the lives of those who once lived at the castle and the fun-filled activities they enjoyed at their island retreat.

The Victorian Arcade forms part of the newly situated entrance to the castle and evokes the pleasure pursuits of its former occupants, the Hamilton family, as well as the many daytrip tourists who travelled to the Isle of Arran for fun and relaxation. The arcade lets visitors test their skills and luck on working recreations of popular games from the period, including bagatelle, buzzwire and hoopla challenges. A fantastic roll-a-derby game completes the experience, reflecting the high-stakes sporting pursuits enjoyed by the castles former inhabitants.

Paragon Creative worked with the National Trust for Scotland to design and build the Victorian Arcade from concept visuals through to the finished attraction, complete with bespoke interactive games, themed setworks and scenery. Paragon Creative also delivered the fit-out of the new reception and retail area with furniture and decoration themed to the Victorian era.
